Summary: In 1998, one of the coolest superheroes of what might be considered the Dork Age of comic book adaptations came to be. He is part creature of the night, part human, and all warrior. But he's got his work cut out for him if he thinks he can beat these vamps alone.

History: Meet Blade. Hunter, swordsman, markman, and slayer of vampires. Long ago, the malevolent Deacon Frost bit his pregnant mother, cursing him with the vampire heritage. However, he also has none of their admittingly numerous weaknesses. Now, the vampires fear Blade for the most part, though things never stay the same. Such as when some vamps came to him for a truce in order to stop the Reapers, a more powerful version of them that also happened to be created by one, namely Eli Damaskinos and his cold treatment of his son Jared. Or that one time where Blade had to get the spotlight hogged from him by Ryan Reynolds as they tried to stop the rise of the all-powerful vampire, Drake.

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: Vampires are killed in droves, mainly by Blade. Deacon gets a lot of anti-coagulant to the head, causing him to violently puff up and explode. Jared kills his abusive father before letting Blade kill him in a final battle. Drake is brought down by a virus made specifically for him, but not before he congratulates Blade for being the next step in vampire evolution, and helps him escape the authorities by faking the warrrior's death.

Powers/Abilities: Some vampires are immune to the standard weaknesses, like Drake and the Reapers. Drake in particular can shapeshift.

Weakness: Sunlight, garlic, silver, anti-coagulant, and each other tend to cause vampires to suffer incredibly violent deaths.

Scariness Factor: 4-Vampires are apparently everywhere in this world, and unless you're a sword-swinging badass, you're screwed. Perhaps the scariest vampire around though is Jared, with his almost alien-looking mouth and sickly look. At the same time, he was a tortured soul wanting to get back at his dad for turning him into a monster even by vampire standards.

Trivia: -Blade was played by Wesley Snipes, who was admittingly rather strict with some of the actors, particularly the one playing Deacon, and sued the studio for the piss-poor job they did with "Trinity". Oh, and he got sent to prison for tax evasion, ensuring that Marvel Studios would never want to pursue Blade again. Ouch.

-Originally, the second film was going to have Morbius as the main villain. For those who don’t know, Morbius is a particularly powerful vampire mainly seen in Spider-Man comics who is constantly trying to keep his awful instincts in control, and keeps bouncing back and forth between being friend and foe for the heroes.
